Yesterday, March 6th, a massive federal mandate forced the California DMV to cancel approximately 13,000 non-domiciled Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs). This isn’t just about paperwork—it’s about 13,000 people, many who are legally present and working, being stripped of their livelihood overnight.

The "Double Loss" Truth: When the DMV canceled these CDLs, they also canceled the drivers' Class C (personal) licenses. This means these drivers can’t even drive their own families to the grocery store or school today.
Why is this happening?

A bureaucratic tug-of-war between the State and the Feds over expiration dates and work authorizations. California lost $160 million in highway funds just for trying to delay this. Now, the drivers are paying the price.

The Current Fight:
Advocacy groups like the Sikh Coalition and Asian Law Caucus are calling this a violation of due process.

A court order (Doe v. DMV) says drivers CAN reapply immediately, but the system is currently "paused" by federal authorities.

If you or someone you know is affected, call the DMV priority line at (916) 306-5153 to try and restore your personal Class C license so you can at least stay on the road in a personal vehicle.
This is a supply chain crisis and a human rights issue. 13,000 drivers off the road affects everyone.
