A Completed Space by Adding Sconces

Who was I fooling when I thought the space by our living room window was complete? After a few weeks of enjoying this newly styled space, I realized something was missing. Read on to see how it all came together.

I created this space right after we took down the Christmas tree. I brought the folding doors closer together to frame the window & underneath the window sat my gorgeous pedestal table. But after only a few weeks, something was off & something needed to change. The sifters on the doors didn't go with the style that was now there. What could I put in place of the sifters? Light! I knew that the space needed some soft lighting as I had been thinking about adding lamps to the table, but that meant I would have to use table space & the lights would cover the view of the mountain. You can't see the mountain in the pictures; you only see my neighbor's house! HAHA, I wonder what they think when they see me open up the blinds with a camera focused on their house. Hmm, I should go on over & mention to them that I am not being nosey, LOL. I can see the mountain when I sit on the sofa every evening. A spot where I grab a magazine or a book & always need a soft light. So, why not add light to the doors? Genius!

I got to it & starting searching the intranet & came across several, but the style needed to be revised, or the price needed to be different. I knew that I wanted them to have crystals to them match the chandelier in the dining room. I finally came across these & I immediately fell in love with them. They came in a set of two & were only $50 & change. Since they are hard wire, I needed to order my favorite kit to convert them to plug in. I want to think that I am a pro at wiring hard wire into a plug-in. Only a few days & they arrived, they were so gorgeous than the pictures & were perfect. The quality is so good & look more than what they cost. The lamps are made of clear glass & the body of brass is perfect a brushed brass.

Converting them into a plug-in was easy that I was able to do. Billy added the hanging plate to the doors & secured the scones to them. He had to drill a hole into each door the width of the cord to pull through so you couldn't see the cords. Everything is behind the door. I purchased a twin extension cord to plug in both sconces. By doing so, I could plug in the extension cord to the outlet that it wired to the light switch. This made it very easy to turn them on & off. It also gives the sense of them being hardwired,

Now the space that I thought was complete is complete & I love it! I love seeing the warm glow in the space & even when they're off.

I have added pictures that are linked to my LTK for your convenience. I'd love to hear your thought on the sconces, tell me below in he comments.

I hope you enjoy this simple DIY. Simple is key here at CCH. Tune in tomorrow for a recap of the week.
