French Toast

What just happened?!! I woke up on a Saturday morning & it was quiet, no sound, no one else was up. Well except for Pepper & Noodle of course.

The minute I woke up, I was craving French Toast. I had just boughten bread from Trader Joes, the buttermilk one last night. & so here we go the beginning of a new blog section "Recipes." I am not sure how often this section will get used by me, but I definitely will try to add a few recipes here & there.

I will say it here, I don't measure. After years of cooking, there's no need for me to do that anymore. So a "pinch", "dash" or a squeeze of that will be how I measure. If you decide to try one of my "recipes" do it all by your own taste. Oh, & there are no real food allergies here at Country Chic Homes, we substitute items for preference only.

French Toast

(for 1)

  • 2 slices of sliced bread. I used Trader Joe's Buttermilk. Usually when it's for the family, I use a sweeter flavorful bread.

  • 1 heirloom egg (it's what I had)

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

  • Almond milk

I whip the egg 1st in a bowl, then add my spices & once it's mixed together I add my Almond Milk, not too much. I like my batter more on the thick side than not. I then transfer everything into a brownie pan to coat the slices of bread. I coat each side let each side soak for about 30sec.

I heat my non stick pan but I still spray it lightly with cooking spray. Add each slice & let each side cook for about 45-60sec on medium to low heat.

For toppings, I love adding fresh banana slices on top with our course white powder sugar & I still have in stock our Sugar Sifter then the last bit is my favorite Maple Syrup again from Trader Joe's. Haha we pretty much do all of our grocery shopping at Trader Joe's.

An easy peasy breakfast to start your day & this new section of Country Chic Homes.

Have a wonderful day!

XO

Ali
