Sunday Breakfast
There's nothing better than a Sunday morning with a simple breakfast around our kitchen island. It was just for me as everyone else was still sleeping. It was going to be a busy day here at CCH, so I woke up early to get the day started.
Today the sun was playing peek-a-boo as the trillionth storm of California was coming through. I had a day planned of all-day laundry, from clothes, bed linens, sofa pillow throw covers, & bathmats; everything was getting washed today. Spring cleaning? No, I have been waiting to wash everything to bring out my spring linens. Since we still have a few more storms, I might as well bring out those floral patterns & spring textures. If I bring everything out & put away the winter linens, Spring will arrive. One can only wish, right? A bit of admin work was on the agenda, too & this blog post will go with my post on Instagram. So yes, I needed a hearty breakfast of oatmeal, coffee & juice. I didn't show it done as I knew I'd be going from room to room & our laundry room was going to be my room today; maybe I should have created the tablescape in our laundry room. So, I captured the before.
Eventually, Billy woke up at the perfect time to join in my second cup of coffee. The pitter-patter of Pepper & now Noodle was coming into the kitchen. We all watched as the thick clouds covered the sun, & the rain began. It would be another day indoors for Pepper & Noodle. Quickly the raindrops turned into hail & the kitchen became a tad darker. It was a moment to watch it all come down; eventually, Spring will arrive & this day will be only a memory of a Sunday Breakfast.
I recently started creating tablescapes on our kitchen island. I don't know why I never thought of doing it before. My first one was last Fall when I was inspired to think outside of my comfort zone & create & show spaces that I usually don't or haven't. I hadn't shared this view as I didn't love it. I can name several reasons, but I am now looking at the brighter side. The kitchen has my favorite pieces, my hutch & the island.
Creating
For the tablescape, I created it with the main ingredient of my breakfast besides the coffee, our oatmeal jar & maple syrup. A few drops of warm maple syrup is a perfect touch to a hot oatmeal bowl. Surrounding the jar is the arrangement that I have shared since sharing Spring this year. I may be retiring this arrangement as I started picking flowers from the arrangement on Friday evening. I created several small ones to place throughout our home. Simple settings of ironstone stacked on top of one another, French glasses & goblets. I may have added the goblets for the picture, as I only had some OJ & coffee. I have had that sweet bird for a while now; that is a perfect size that can be tucked in anywhere. Of course, candles are a must. I used three votive candles to keep the cozy morning vibe.
A peek at our hutch with my white ironstone, I am slowly converting the hutch to hold only white ironstone/stoneware, advertising jars & occasional French glass canning jars to add some color. Off to the side, an accordion wall hanger has my aprons & vintage fishing basket with CCH Bliss Buds Bush.
My tips
Create a tablescape a simple one & enjoy the moment!
Create outside of your comfort zone. In a space that you usually wouldn't.
Find in your home the perfect figurine that can be used throughout your home.
& lastly, share a comment below on how you start a busy Sunday morning.
As we start a new week, may it be memorable & filled with joy! Thank you always for being here with me & allowing me to share one more tablescape.
