Thankful
It's the season to be thankful, a season of gratitude & a season of reflection here at CCH. As we gather for Thanksgiving, may we all give thanks for our blessings. From all of us at Country Chic Homes, we wish you & yours a wonderful holiday.
I will be hosting our little family this year, which I love to do with all my heart. I give my all on my favorite holiday. From the shopping to the prep & the final slice of pie, I do it all with a smile. We have your traditional Thanksgiving meal and many different desserts, from pumpkin pie, multi-berry pie, sweet potato with marshmallows, cheesecake, pumpkin bread & chocolate chip cookies. Sounds pretty sweet, huh?
Cooking starts early; I bake all the desserts Wednesday evening. Bright & early on Thursday, the turkey goes in the oven. We have our meal at lunchtime as my older son works at a restaurant that's open for dinner. It's okay; it gives us the rest of the day, evening & night to have leftovers.
For those of you who need a sweet message
As it is a time to rejoice & embrace one another, it can also be a time of sorrow if you're like me, who has a part of them in heaven. Thanksgiving was & probably still is his favorite holiday. Somehow it became mine, too, even before his passing. As I am washing a dish or prepping a dish, my mind starts to wonder & remember our Thanksgiving together. My eyes filled with tears at times. I remember just how much he loved stuffing & pumpkin pie. Each year I leave a slice of pie for him; it's my way of having him present at our table. So, my heart goes out to you on this holiday & every other holiday; when you look over at that empty space at your table that was once occupied, know it still is we can't see them, but we can feel their presence.
Thank you for being here & in all where I share CCH. It truly is so warming that you make time to come & see what we're up to with decor, lifestyle, or the ventures of Pepper.
