The Cozy Wall Got An Upgrade.
Happy Monday! Eeek, it's the first five-day week of regular work we've had for a while. As much as I enjoy Monday, there's just something special about no work Monday that makes the start of the week sweeter with me & probably you too. So, here's me telling you, it may feel like a super long week, but you got this! We'll get back to the weekend soon.
With Christmas all packed away & a distant memory now, I have kept CCH a clean slate & am not leaning toward winter styling. I felt the need to pack everything away & keep our home cozy, at least for the first month of the year. As far as our cozy throw wall, since bringing it in the fall & then into Christmas it needed an upgrade, I removed a few of the blankets & added two new ones. All cozy, thick & warm as it is winter & the temperatures have been a bit chilly. You can find blankets all over our home; you'll find one to cozy up with in every basket. But having several on display makes me smile when I see the reflection in the mirror. But now I am seeing something else in the reflection. Above the blankets, I added photos! No, not family photos, but pictures of a few of my favorite singers who in my opinion are legends in the music industry. All are 11x14 in size & printed in black & white. I framed all in black frames. All placed in a row & evenly spaced; yes, that was fun, in a tedious way. Thankfully, I used finishing nails at first to mark & center each frame, so the holes were easy to cover up; I may still have to do that.
Elvis Presley, Ice Cube, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton & the Lyrics of The Gambler of the great Kenny Rogers will greet you when you come in or grab a blanket from one of the brass hooks. Can I tell you; I love this space so much! It's exactly what this space needed, cozy blankets & a gallery wall!
This year, I am decorating with items that I love & with things that represent me & my family on the daily. We all love music & even though I still haven't gotten back into listening to music at home since Carlos got sick, I still love it & I know that one day, I will listen to music again like before. I still listen to it in the car. I don't know. Honestly, I am still on edge with Carlos still being ill & well-healing that my mind is just so consumed & needs to sit quietly & even if that means taking a break from listening to music at home. Before Carlos became ill, I had already planned this space & I wanted to still move forward with it as I knew this feeling was only temporary & as I mentioned above, I love it; I love how it turned out & the look of it is just a vibe! & guess what? I haven't shared this space over on Instagram, you're the first ones to be in the know!
So, this year, I challenge you to decorate with any style you love, with any piece that speaks to you & your family. In styling, there is no right or wrong way, especially when it's for your own home; your home is a representation of all who live there & if you do just that, you'll get every bit of it.
Thank you for being here & for being so patient with me during this trying time for myself & my family. I am slowly coming back to you all. Have a wonderful week ahead & do something beautiful!
XO
